Gunung Belumut ( 1010-m ) is located within the Gunung Belumut Recreational Forest about 18-km northeast of Kluang town. The name 'Belumut' is derived from the slippery and slimy stones that abound on the mountain. The park is reached on wheels via a well-maintained plantation road and is equipped with camping and resting facilities with a nice waterfall at the base of the mountain. It is a popular with families, school children and day trippers, especially on weekends which see the most number of visitors.

The Gunung Belumut day hike is a very physically challenging affair and it takes the average moderately-fit person about 7-8 hours to complete the up-down 6-km long summit trail. Hence it is not suitable for the 'not-so-fits' as the hike is unrelentlessly uphill ( and downhill ) all the way. There are distance-markers along the well-trodden jungle tracks and there're a series of knolls & steep slopes to overcome before one reaches the false summit before getting to the true summit of Belumut where there is a pyramid-like rock pinnacle

all of us got stuck in the middle of the jeram, air so deras!!!first I hanyut, hit a rock before the jeram.then nadine (my beloved cousin) tried to save me - ended up both of us crying for help (we looked quite pathetic - based on the pix, well I looked pathetic!!).then sany came to our rescue.Then all of us got stuck in the middle, surrounded by air deras, aiyo, cannot go back to the tebing!!then sany hanyut, fell down the jeram - bruised his ankle then azlin & i bukak our tshirts (coz it was disturbing our movement), then my baju hanyut pulak. it's now a permanent resident of air terjun chamang!!! stuck under a rock.
in the end we had to make a "pseudo" human chain, for all of us to get across safely. Phew, that was stressful Yep, even tho we didn't reach penang, it was cool guys. let's do it again in August ok.thanks to nadine for her nasi lemak & XC90 car!! thanks to azlin for her apple pie - bake more ok. Yep, we'll go for more nature outings - kena season u sikit.thanks to maj for her strange observation about birds being under the car.thanks to sany - our knight in shining armour-KUYA

Bukit Batu Tabur is gazetted as the world’s longest quartz ridge, measuring 16 kms long and 200 metres wide. It is also recognised as the world’s single largest quartz dyke. As it was formed at the same time as the Main Range, some even label the ridge as the nation’s geological monument.
These aside, the ridge’s nine bulges and rugged cliffs offer a real challenge, even for regular mountain climbers. Definitely not for the unfit, non-adventurers or weak-hearted.
As it is located at the fringe of the city, Bukit Batu Tabur commands spectacular views of both the city skyline and the water catchments area of Klang Gates Dam, making it an ideal place for a short breakaway.
